SKAA is an independent art advisory firm built on the integrated expertise of modern and contemporary art advisory and rigorous appraisal practice.
The firm was founded on the conviction that informed collecting today requires both a forward-looking understanding of modern and contemporary art and a rigorous solid foundation in authentication, valuation, and market analysis.
Co-founded by Soyeon Sylvia Kim and Sanggoo Kong, SKAA operates across primary and secondary market, combining international modern and contemporary art insight with deep appraisal and due diligence capabilities. This integrated approach enables the firm to support clients not only in acquiring significant works, but also in understanding their value, context, and long-term positioning.
Meet Our Founders
Soyeon Sylvia Kim is an art advisor with over 15 years of experience in the global art market, combining formal academic training in art history, art management and appraisal.
She has worked extensively with leading galleries, institutions, and private collectors, advising on acquisitions, collection strategy, and valuation. Her practice is particularly focused on modern and contemporary.
Building on her long-standing experience in established advisory and gallery contexts, her perspective is shaped by sustained engagement with historical material, artist’s estate, and institutional contexts-particularly in situations where authorship, provenance, and value require careful discernment rather than expediency.
Kim maintains an independent, conflict-free position, working without inventory and advising solely in the interest of her clients. Her approach emphasized clarity, accountability, and a long-term view, especially in matters involving legacy works and transitional collections.
She collaborated closely with international galleries, scholars, and cultural institutions, and is regularly engaged in partnership-based projects that require trust, discretion, and rigorous standards. Her advisory work-expanding its international scope while maintaining the principles of independence, confidentiality, and intellectual integrity.

Sanggoo Kong is the founder and CEO of MyArt Auction in Seoul and recognized authority in the appraisal and authentication of Korean antiquities. With decades of experience in connoisseurship, provenance research, and historical analysis, he is widely respected for his rigorous and scholarly approach to the evaluation of cultural property.
His expertise spands Korean antiquities and early modern works, with particular strength in authentication, condition assessment, and market valuation. Through MyArt Auction, Kong has played pivotal role in guiding collectors and institutions in navigating the complexities of the secondary market, ensuring both academic integrity and market credibility.
As a co-founder of SKAA, Kong leads the firm’s fined art and antiquity appraisal practice, providing critical expertise in authentication, valuation, and due diligence, His deep understanding of historical context and material culture strengthens SKAA’s advisory platform, particularly for collectors seeking clarity, confidence, and long-term value in historically significant works.
